Albany Medical College commissioned Hyman Hayes Associates to program and design renovations to 6,400-sf of laboratory and office space for the College's Center for Immunology and Microbial Disease. The $500,000 laboratory relies on animal studies and extremely toxic material, which require restricted access, stringent environmental standards and specialized equipment.

The new laboratories are designed as large open spaces, with smaller areas and alcoves where specialized activities, such as computer, animal, or radioactive work takes place. Space was allocated for a darkroom and microscope rooms. The department office suite includes rooms for department heads and administrative staff.
