In an effort to alleviate space constraints within the Hospital, the General Pediatrics group was relocated to an adjacent offsite outpatient clinic facility.
Approximately half of the 8,350-sf facility required only minor repairs and upgrade and replacement of finishes. However, the remainder of the facility required a gut renovation to accommodate the new program and increase in patients.
The clinic was designed with a racetrack corridor with four separate pods at the perimeter. The front area of the $250,000 renovation was reconfigured to provide a new four person-registration desk, medical records, administrative space for seven staff, and a larger, more open 34-seat waiting area. Floor patterns and a curved wall between registration and waiting help lead children into a play area.

The rear core area was also gutted to provide a larger lab, centralized nurses' station, immunization room, large precepting room, and staff break room. Five offices were converted into new exam rooms. Each of the pods received a main color designation. The flooring leading into each pod is a random mix of the colors used throughout the clinic.
