Because of our performance on previous projects Saratoga Hospital entrusted Hyman Hayes Associates to design a new Emergency Department (ED) which will be the largest addition the Hospital has undertaken.

Saratoga County is growing and the Hospital has become a preferred destination for patients. The increase in ED visits has grown significantly in the last few years and is project to continue to grow to 55,000 visits. The existing 7,340-sf ED is woefully undersized to handle this increase in patient volume.

The proposed two-story addition will add approximately 58,800-sf to the Hospital. The addition will include a 36-bed, 33,000-sf Emergency Department and 3,500-gross sq. ft eight-bed Express Admission Unit on the first floor. All beds are in single occupancy rooms to allow for maximum patient comfort and confidentiality. Specialized rooms include; four trauma/cardiac rooms, SANE/GYN room, orthopedic room, four isolation rooms and six psychiatric rooms. All rooms will have the capability for cardiac monitoring and have a similar design to allow for flexibility. Sixteen of the non-specialized rooms will be grouped together for emergent care and six rooms will be grouped together primarily for express care.

The design includes an imaging suite, which will house CT Scan and X-ray, that will be primarily for ED use. However, the suite will also be accessible from the ED waiting room so it can also be used for out-patients if necessary. In addition, the ED is located directly adjacent to the existing Hospital's Imaging Suite for quick access for specialized imaging.

The project will also include a 5,800-sf Pharmacy constructed to USP 797 Standards and 5,345-sf Information Technology Suite on the ground floor. Mechanical systems will also be housed on the ground with the remainder of the floor designated for future use.
