Northeast Health selected Hyman Hayes Associates to design a new comprehensive state-of-the-art Cancer Care Center for Samaritan Hospital in Troy. The design transforms a former supermarket site into a new $10-million ambulatory care facility.
The 37,300-sf facility embraces the concept of integrated medicine and offers acupuncture, massage therapy, and other non-traditional therapies in addition to traditional cancer care, such as linear accelerators, simulator and cyberknife treatment.

Large expanses of glass will bring natural light into waiting and treatment areas. The layout pulls patients from the waiting/reception area into clinical areas past a centrally located healing garden. Patients undergoing treatment will have views into the garden rather than a blank wall. The entry area includes a conference/community room, library and café that lessen the institutional atmosphere.
