Amsterdam Memorial Hospital initially selected Hyman Hayes Associates to design renovations to its Family Health Practice clinic and outpatient registration area. However, because of the number of programs competing for space, we suggested that an overall planning study of the entire first floor was a critical step prior to design.

Hyman Hayes Associates analyzed overall floor layout, documented existing space use, and developed several conceptual options for potential layouts. The planning exercise addressed traffic flow, segregation of services, and incorporated various programmatic needs.

The selected design separates walk-in patient from outpatient services and provides a distinguishable hierarchy of public to private spaces as patients proceed deeper into the facility.
