Albany Medical Center asked Hyman Hayes Associates to design a $1.9-million operative/vascular suite, the most advanced of its kind in northeastern New York State. The suite is outfitted with digital fluoroscopic imaging equipment that allows for a 3-D photo of blood vessels and arteries, enabling surgeons to perform complex hybrid endovascular/open heart procedures simultaneously.

The project called for the renovation of an existing OR into the vascular OR. Limited available space required close coordination with all users and equipment manufacturers. Imaging and electronic control equipment was moved outside the OR and an adjacent supply room was converted into a new control room.

Custom designed nurses' workstation within the OR provides chart work area, phone, PC, and folding articulated keyboard/ monitor support to allow staff to input information while still facing patient.
