In another project for the DEC, Hyman Hayes Associates was selected to design a new 8,000-sf visitor and education facility for the Five Rivers Environmental Center in Delmar, which is the DEC's most heavily visited center. The project is being designed to achieve LEED certification.

The project includes meeting rooms, classrooms, exhibit space, and offices. The design is in keeping with the natural environmental setting and is based on traditional farmhouse vernacular. Extensive site design includes covered outdoor meeting areas, addition of natural environmental features, and signage to help visitors orient themselves. Construction is projected to start in 2008 and be completed in 2009. Project costs are currently estimated at $5 million.
