St. Mary's Hospital, part of Seton Health System, wanted to expand their services to women and asked Hyman Hayes Associates to renovate 2,100-sf of medical office space in a nearby stand-alone medical office building into a women's diagnostic center.

The renovation created a distinct, private suite containing spaces for mammography, ultrasound, bone densitometry, changing rooms, and support areas. The reception area provided controlled access into the rear clinical spaces. The attached waiting area included a small coffee area, and finishes throughout the space were geared towards women.

The design was complicated by the need to work around existing window, column and corridor locations. In order to complete the project within the limited budget as many existing building elements as possible were reused or modified.
