New Medical Examiner Building with Geothermal Wells, Orange County, NY
HHA is designing the new Orange County Medical Examiner (OCME) Building: a single-story building, roughly 17,800 sf, housing autopsy spaces with high-end equipment, offices, staff support spaces, and waiting spaces for the public.
A key feature of the OCME building will be the use of 44 geothermal wells to serve the building's heating and cooling as a renewable source of energy!
The medical examiner staff has been working in temporary trailer facilities located at the Orange County Emergency Services Building. With a continuous increase in the number of cases, the county expressed a need for a new building that would have an exterior presence, improve day-to-day operations, and allow enough space for future growth.
