Saratoga Hospital | Emergency Department Addition and Renovation
Project Size: 65,000-sf
Project Location: 211 Church St, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
Project Team: Saratoga Hospital
Completion Date: October 2011
Construction Cost: $21.6 Million
Owner Contact: Kevin Ronayne, V.P. of Facility Operations
Project Request:
To expand, reconfigure and renovate the hospital’s Emergency Department. The project included a 27,900-sf addition, reconfiguring the existing ED area to provide for 29,700-sf for a pharmacy, central supplies, mechanical room, dedicated imaging, and contemporary IT storage, and adding a second floor to the addition for future medical office use.
Project Solution:
The new 36-bed Emergency Department features all single-occupancy rooms to allow for maximum patient comfort and confidentiality. New specialized treatment rooms for trauma/cardiac, SANE/OBGYN, orthopedics, isolation, and psychiatric care are included. All rooms can provide cardiac monitoring and allow for flexibility of use. Sixteen of the non-specialized rooms are grouped together for general emergency care, while six additional rooms will be grouped together primarily for urgent care. A separate 3,500-sf, eight-bed pre-admission area was part of the design. An imaging suite houses the CT Scan and X-ray for emergency room use. However, this suite is accessible from the department’s waiting room so it can also be used for outpatients when needed.
